Without a will, the following have no Inheritance rights

– unmarried partners
– co-habitees
– step children
– relations by marriage
– close friends
– carers

Note 1
The term “children” includes natural and illegitimate children and those for whom the deceased had parental responsibility. These funds will be held on trust until such children reach the age of 18.
Note 2
If one sibling has died previously, his/her share will be divided among his/her children per stirpes
Note 3
Blood relatives and half blood relatives will be entitled before the Government.

Cases in which there is a more complex set of relatives or a death that occurred before 1st October 2014 should be reviewed by a specialist.
