It is often necessary to consult the Land Registry to determine exactly who owns a property and the nature of that ownership.
You may have heard the expression Tenants in Common and or Joint Ownership. Note 1
The Report will tell you:
- who are the Legal Owners
- the nature of that ownership
- any outstanding mortgage
- any outstanding charge
Note 1 It will not tell you the beneficial ownership which may be the subject of separate documentation that you are holding.
